The symbolism of pentacle
The pentacle, also known as the pentagram, is a 5-pointed star symbolizing the union of the spirit with the elements (water, earth, air and fire). When the star faces upwards, as it does here, the spirit is considered to be turned towards heaven, and thus, by extension, towards spirituality.
