The pentagram symbolism

The pentagram is a five-pointed star surrounded by a circle symbolizing the union of the spirit with the natural elements (water, earth, air and fire) in the great whole of the universe represented by the circle. When the pentagram is turned upwards, as it is here, the spirit is considered to be turned towards sky, and thus, by extension, towards spirituality.
