The symbolism of the pentagram

The pentagram is a five-pointed star surrounded by a circle. Each point represents a natural element (water, earth, air and fire), linked to the spirit in the great whole of the universe symbolized by the circle. When the star is turned upwards, as it is here, the spirit is considered to be turned towards the sky, and thus symbolically towards spirituality. In neopaganism, the pentagram is considered a symbol of protection.
